 COMMANDER CENTRAL

First off I am here by the grace of God and I would like to thank you all for your prayers for my surgery and recovery.  I am not back to work yet but I am out of the house!!!

Teamwork always pays off, thanks to the Post, Ladies and Men’s members on August 26th we had the privilege of feeding a squadron of soldieries, temporary based out at Fort Wolters, preparing to deploy to Iraq.  With the help of Chicken Express, Wes-Tex Vending and our faithful volunteers we were able to show these boys some Texas BBQ.  Thanks to the guys who stepped up and smoked the briskets and the helpers that served.

We have a change on our Tuesday Night Schedule.  Now we will have Troy Stone on the 3rd Tuesday Night only.  All other nights we will dance to the Jukebox or CDs.  There is no change on the food schedule.  So bring a covered dish and listen to Troy every 3rd Tuesday!!

Quick reminder for our fall cook off, see back for more details.  If you would like to judge stop by for a schedule of event turn in times, so you can be here on stand by to judge the chow!

Dues need to be received by December!!      Commander Stormes

CANTEEN CALL

Hello Again!

What’s new around the Canteen?  I have started having a once a month “Social Gathering.”  Our first one was August 9th, what a super duper Saturday  night.  We certainly had a great turn-out and so much fun!  There was a lot of food donations, for all to enjoy.  Thanks to all of you who contributed to the cause.  Our next “Social” is scheduled for September 6th.  Please, come out and bring your favorite snack, enjoy the festivities and fellowship.

The first Dallas football game will be on Sunday, September 7th @ 3:15pm.  We will be staying open for the Dallas Cowboys games, for those of you who would like to come out and watch the game, bring a snack and enjoy the games….. I’ve had a lot of requests for this, so I hope to see you all there.

Until Next Time!                                                                                Cheryl

 CHAPLAIN’S CORNER

Jesus Blesses Little Children

Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.  Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”  And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.

Mark 10:13-16

Only Mark’s account includes the warm detail that Jesus “took the children into his arms.” Jesus thus exceeded the expectations of the adults, who brought these children to Jesus that he might merely “touch” them.

As the new school year begins for our children and grandchildren help to protect the little ones God gave to us.  Be ever watchful around school crossing and bus stops.  Use Christ’s example, wrap your arms around your kids and let them feel your love.

Thank you and May God Bless,        Chaplain Walter Choate
